Pull-up Bars & Chin-up Bars

Pull-up bars and chin-up bars are an easy, affordable way to tone up in the convenience and privacy of your own home. A bar can be an important piece of equipment for every fitness fan from beginners to professional athletes. Since bars force you to lift your own body-weight, no matter what kind of physical shape a person is in, everyone can get some benefits from working out with pull-up bars and chin-up bars.

The most common use of pull-up bars and chin-up bars is for developing the arm muscles, mainly the biceps and forearms. However, pull-up bars and chin-up bars are also perfect for working the back muscles and you can also perform a few abdominal exercises on them such as leg lifts and oblique curls.

Pull-up bars and chin-up bars offer many advantages that more complex and elaborate fitness cannot match. They can be installed and removed easily and quickly in the home and office. Some bars can be attached to walls too, if the ceilings are high enough and the walls can handle the weight. Wall mounted units are perfect for use at home. A basic multi-exercise mounted bar unit will allow you to do chin-ups, pull-ups and push-ups too. A traditional pull-up exercise consists of an overhand grip on the bar, chin-ups usually employ an underhand grip. Variations can include doing pull-ups with your palms facing each other, or thumb-less grip pull-ups.

Pull-up and chin-up bar exercises are some of the most underrated exercises for building extra upper body, back and core strength and it is an area of fitness that requires very little in the way of equipment. Although some bars can be more elaborate affairs, like a free-standing pull-up exercise station at the gym, but for the most part they are usually simple doorway-mounted bars you can purchase online or at your local sporting goods store.

Unfortunately, most athletes ignore this simple exercise during their regular strength training routine. Don't make that same mistake. It's one of the "must do" exercises no matter your fitness level. Just because pull-up bars and chin-up bars are overlooked by some athletes during their regular strength training routines doesn’t mean they are not effective. Pull-up and chin-ups are exercises that anyone can do no matter what their fitness level is.
