Pilates DVDs

A Pilates DVD should be a type of exercise you are genuinely interested in so that you will be motivated to use it. Your Pilates DVDs should also be at a realistic level for your physical abilities. If the routines are too easy, you won't use it and if the workouts are too hard you won't be able to use it. Take a good look at any DVDs you’re considering and see if the level of the workout is listed on it. Purchase your Pilates DVDs for the level of physical ability you currently have, not the level you want to be at. You are much more likely to continue using a workout you can actually achieve. After you have increased your own level of fitness, you can add more complexity and difficulty to your routines.

You’ll need to allocate the proper amount of space to perform your Pilates movements and get the most out of your DVDs. Pilates workouts are mostly stationary poses, but some DVDs might require more room to workout in. You’ll also need to make sure you have all the equipment and accessories necessary to work out with a DVD. It is not uncommon for Pilates workouts to utilize exercise bands and fitness balls, so you’ll need to examine the label on the DVD to see what ancillary equipment will be needed.

One big advantage of working out with DVDs is the ability to use the Pause or Back buttons on your player to go back over a difficult routine or pose. The instruction on a DVD will continue on at a pace you might not be able to keep at first. You can use the Pause button to stop the workout until you are ready to continue and you can use the Back button to watch a particular exercise or a part of a workout again.
